The first chainsaw direct-drive chainsaws in Europe - the SOLO REX from 1958! The revolutionary SOLO direct-drive saw made the previously essential gearbox redundant. Motor saws instantly became sustantially lighter. Abandoning gears also allowed greater engine speeds, and cutting capacity was doubled, in conjunction with the first production inverted tooth chain. Until the appearence of the REX, the angle of the of the chain bar had to be adjusted in order to cut vertically, for example. The new diaphragm carburettor made it possible to work in any posotion without adjusting the saw. A massive 5.2 HP (DIN), and a cutting length of up to 50 cm, also ensured these pioneering saws a commanding lead in the forests of the 50s and 60s.
